Anonymous asked: How did you get started in art? Any advice?
I was one of those kids in school who was always drawing. Thanks to the encouragement of teachers and family, I kept pursuing it through school and college, and onward.
As far as advice, I can’t get too specific to you because I don’t know what you’re pursuing (feel free to come off anon, I won’t publish). The most specific advice I’d give is to take life drawing classes. They are key to improving your skills, no matter where you apply them.
A more general advice is to listen to your heart when it comes to your goals. When I was about to start college, a lot of my relatives (not my parents) basically told me that pursuing art was very risky, and that I should have a backup plan in case it didn’t work out. Not everyone will encourage you the way you want them to. JustĀ don’t let that stop you from going after what you want.
